Graduation is complete

This past Saturday was my graduation from college. There were so many people and it was so hot in there that we didn't get many pictures..the ones my mom did take are attached...I was pretty hot, so I had was ready to take that polyester gown off..it was already unzipped, so sorry about that. As a graduate with a M.A.T degree, our "hood" was light blue..very pretty actually and I am not a blue fan. It is a great relief to have that diploma in hand and know that I am done..now to the hard part..finding a job!

On the good side, I have finished a small sewing project for a friend of my moms that is coming to the states today from Denmark. I did not take a pic before wrapping it, but it is a simple wool pin cushion from Primative Gatherings design. It has a sheep on the front. I loved doing it and learned things as I did it last night...

Off to enjoy the day..the week promises high temps in the 70's! Wahoooo

Lunch tomorrow with a dear friend to celebrate my birthday as well.

Finally finished

So, either ten or eleven years ago (cannot remember) I started my college career in hopes that I could finish my bachelors program in roughly five - six years. Well...I did finish, in eight or nine and then today I finished all of my requirements to obtain my M.A.T (Masters in Art and Teaching) I am thrilled to be finished and will walk across the stage in a week to graciously accept my dipolma.

I am thrilled to be done, yet a bit anxious, however, I do know that I am going to start some quilt projects. Found a new wool pattern by Deborah Busby of Wooden Spool Designs and then I also found a wall hanging that is part embroidery and part quilting. My husband and I will be taking a few days of vacation next month, so I hope to have some "hand" work to keep me busy. I will definitely post when I am done.

I will really feel that I am done with school once Sunday afternoon rolls around as for the past seven years, I always did my homework on Sundays. Whew.

Here is to a wonderful and relaxing weekend!

Wool designer!

I was at my local quilt store yesterday for their sale and I was mulling around the wool display and looked over to my left and saw a lady that I recognized from her blog. Deborah Busby from Wooden Spools Designs at www.woodenspooldesigns.com. She is the creator of many of the wonderful wool designs that I absolutely love. I introduced myself and stated how I love, love, love her patterns.

My girlfriend was in the shop just about an hour prior to me...so I had a fun time texting her telling her that I met Deborah! What a great thing!

Sewing Machine Case

I recently purchased a sewing maching and a case with it. Once I opened the case, I did not like it as it did not have a "well" in the bottom where you put the machine...and I, other small items..so back it went. I looked at JoAnn's for one with no luck and did a little bit of online search. Well, I had some extra time today so I went to Goodwill. It is one of the largest in the Portland area so I knew it may take me some time to get through it. First place I always head is to the furniture section and low and behold, what did I see...an almost brand new sewing maching case....DING DING DING...$4.99. yeah! Perfect..exactly what I wanted. I love Goodwill! And it seems that most everyone else does too. I have never seen so many people in a Goodwill before. Too many for me to brouse the "wooden - primatives want a be aisle!"

First finished quilt top - wall hanging

I finally finished my first quilt top. It is for a wall hanging and I have it done! Not the best, but its a start. Hope to get it finished in the next few weeks. Busy with school and should have been working on writing lesson plans today rather than sewing, but it was relaxing.

Here is a photo. When I am completely finished, I will post a final photo.

Happy New Year

I have only done one posting and one of my simple goals to to try to post a few times per month. I am still trying to figure this thing out. I do not know how to change my template or to get the cute templates, so need to figure that out.

Christmas was came and went. I have yet to upload photos of my tree. Didnt get all of my projects done, but the ones I did, the people enjoyed them.

One more week off until I start my 15 weeks of student teaching. This is what I have dreamed of since I was 8 years old. I have been volunteering in the 5/6 classroom that I will be placed in for five weeks, one day per week and have enjoyed it. The days seem to fly by! So much to do and so little time.

I just purchased my first "basic" sewing machine. Its nothing fancy, but it will do. Its a Kenmore. My mom has had one for approximately 42+ years and it works great. The one that I have used for almost 30 years was my grandmother old Montgomery Wards machine. It is a horse, but not portable. I will attempt to post pictures this week. Right now, I am working on finishing one of my last class presentations and lesson plans for my last class which I Monday. I have most of the power point done and have the lessons plans outlined in my notebook, just need to type them up......will get that done this weekend between four basketball games that my son is playing in and my trip to my favorite local quilt shop...http://www.hollyhillquiltshoppe.com/
Love them!

I hope that all of you have a great New Years day. I am currently listening to my husband and son watch the Rose Bowl. They are rooting for the Oregon Ducks and since I do not like that team, I am rooting for Ohio State...LOL..

Oh well.

Happy New Year
